Hello World

Ah geez, how the heck am I supposed to introduce myself here? What am I supposed to say? I like long walks on the beach? I like my coffee black? My ongoing existential crisis is slowly crushing me into a paste? Who knows? For all my writing prose and poetry, fiction and nonfiction, perhaps the hardest thing I find to write about is myself, and I’ve written a film noire-esque short story having no experience with genre as well as wrote a “poem” using automatic texting and google searches.

Just hangin’ out in a cornfield. As you do.

I guess I can talk about what I want to accomplish with this blog here. Frankly, I’m trying this new thing called “not planning things 25 steps in advance.” I can tell you that this blog is going to be heavily populated by posts on nature and poetry with a dash of gender and sexuality. They’re my favourite things to write about after all. I’m also a big fan of the esoteric, places abandoned, folklore, and the supernatural. I might include reviews of movies, books, TV shows, video games, etc. that are tangentially related to those things. I have an old hobby blog I’ll pull from in the beginning, albeit they’ll need to be heavily edited to be up to snuff.

It’s also been pointed out to me I should also talk about myself, what’s going on in my life, yadda yadda. Likely those posts will be infinitely less interesting than the other posts, but then again, I never thought a chapbook about my family camping Algonquin Park would garner any of the interest it did. With what the past year has been like (and I promise that’s all I’ll say about that, I’m sure we all have fatigue from talking about the dumpster fire that was last year), I want to try to focus on self-love and gratitude, which I’m learning is a lot harder than simply wearing a face mask during a bubble bath.

One thing I know for sure is I want to try to remain consistent. I won’t set any in stone right now as my “posting days”, but I want to try to post at least twice a week. Making this website alone was a big step for me, and I’m excited and optimistic to see where it goes.
